Oscar Wilde was an Irish novelist, author and poet, he has written many short stories and one novel. Known for his biting wit, he became one of the most successful playwrights of that era in London. Several of his plays continue to be widely performed. As the result of a widely covered series of trials, Oscar Wilde suffered a downfall and was imprisoned for two years. When Oscar Wilde came out from prison he set sail for Dieppe by the night ferry. He never returned to Britain.
